The Qurna College of Education at the University of Basra discussed the master’s thesis by the student Samoud Ali Hussein in the Arabic Language Department, entitled: “Reading Guidelines in Interpretive Discourse - Analytical Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an as a Model.”
The study aimed to clarify the elements that guide the reading process towards a specific meaning, and to reveal how these guides function in directing the reader towards understanding the Qur’anic connotations, as the difference in interpretive reading is linked to the difference in those external and internal guides to the text, due to the semantic richness and rhetorical miracle that characterizes the Qur’anic text.
The researcher relied on the encyclopedia “Analytical Interpretation of the Holy Qur’an” by Professor Dr. Abbas Al-Fahham, published in 2023, which is considered one of the most prominent modern encyclopedias in the field of interpretation. The encyclopedia was distinguished by its adoption of the analytical approach in treating Quranic texts, and the employment of various linguistic and non-linguistic sciences to reach precise meanings and connotations, in addition to its following a contemporary academic approach that differs from traditional methods of interpretation.
