About the department
 The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2019/2020, where it received the first batch of students, and during the academic year 2020/2021, the evening study was introduced in the department. The Department of Chemistry at the College of Education Qurna is keen to consolidate the scientific excellence of the department’s students and to emphasize modern information and knowledge in the various fields of chemistry. The department also seeks to develop the students’ individual skills and experiences to achieve a better career future, thus contributing to the performance of the academic mission that the Department of Chemistry aspires to.

 Message of the department.
The mission of the department is to prepare scientifically distinguished scientific and educational cadres in the field of teaching chemistry in society, and to meet quality standards in preparing and qualifying distinguished graduates at the local and regional levels through developing university programs and curricula and interacting with international Iraqi institutes.

Department objectives
1. Providing a distinguished level of curricula, programs and services related to the study of chemistry. 
2. Preparing the student scientifically and educationally in the field of teaching chemistry and its applications.
3. Providing professional and educational personnel capable of teaching chemistry.
4. Providing services to society and the environment by providing consultations and scientific and applied expertise to institutions and companies and contributing to solving problems resulting from chemical pollution.

5. Scientific and technical communication with colleges of education in other universities to serve the exchange of scientific expertise and enrich knowledge related to chemistry.
6. Encouraging the department’s faculty members to produce innovative scientific research and participate in local and international scientific conferences and specialized and general seminars.
7. Contributing to spreading scientific culture by holding scientific conferences and seminars.
