I am pleased to take advantage of this opportunity to present the Department of Chemistry at the College of Education Qurna/University of Basrah. The Department of Chemistry was founded in 2019 as a response to the strong demand to educate the science of chemistry for the students in  Basrah Governorate, especially for students in northern Basrah, in addition to the governorates of Dhi Qar and Maysan, as there is no similar department in those governorates.

Our department is committed to providing an educational environment that allows the students to acquire basic knowledge and skills for future careers in the fields of teaching and scientific research, and to prepare cadres who have mastered the basics of chemistry in its various specializations: organic chemistry, physical chemistry, industrial chemistry, analytical chemistry, inorganic chemistry, and biological chemistry. Scientific and that this cadres be able to teach chemistry in middle and secondary schools.

The department is making a great efforts to provide all the requirements for the success of our young department in terms of providing an experienced staffs of electronic and classic teaching, in addition to equipping our department’s laboratories with various devices and materials.
