The participation included a research paper entitled The Complexities and Anxiety of Existence in Arthur Kopit’s Play ‘Wings’The research aimed to explore the themes of complexity and anxiety in Arthur Cobbett's play "Wings", and examine how they reflect the multifaceted nature of human existence. The play revolves around the character Emily, an elderly woman suffering from the effects of a stroke that changes her perception of reality and her ability to communicate.
By analyzing Emily's journey, the paper addresses the existential questions raised by the play, such as the nature of identity, the struggle to communicate, and the impact of memory on one's sense of self. Cobbett's use of fragmented narrative and non-linear structure reflects the chaos of Emily's experiences, and highlights the fears inherent in facing mortality and searching for meaning.
