The Departments of Arabic Language and Life Sciences at the Qurna College of Education at the University of Basra organized a large voluntary afforestation campaign in the college gardens in order to increase green spaces with the participation of a number of college teachers and students.

 Professor Dr. Qasim Jassim Adhafa, Dr. Mortada Abdel Nabi Al-Shawi, and Dr. Afaq Lazem Abdel Latif were keen to have the students participate in planting evergreen trees, as well as a group of seasonal agricultural seedlings, to contribute to increasing green spaces, as well as developing and encouraging volunteer work among students.
