University of Basrah Organizes a Scientific Seminar on the Occasion of World Arabic Language Day

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education – Al-Qurna, University of Basrah, organized a scientific seminar on the occasion of World Arabic Language Day on Sunday, in the presence of a distinguished group of faculty members, researchers, and students.

The seminar aimed to highlight the global status of the Arabic language, shed light on contemporary linguistic, literary, and research issues, and enhance interest in rigorous linguistic and critical studies.

The seminar featured the participation of several specialized professors. Professor Dr. Murtada Abdul-Nabi Ali presented his research paper titled "The Arabic Language: A Global Language," in which he discussed the spread of Arabic and its presence in international scientific and cultural forums. Additionally, Instructor Dr. Yas Awad Rashid presented a research paper titled "The Centrality of the News (Khabar) in the Arabic Language: News Connectors in Kitab al-Aghani – Selected Stories of Al-Farazdaq," discussing the informational structure and linking tools in heritage texts.

Instructor Dr. Sajjad Muhammad Darb participated with his research paper, "Al-Mufid fi al-Tasrif by Al-Zamakhshari Between Two Edits: Justifications for Re-editing," reviewing methodological differences and the importance of scientific re-editing. Meanwhile, Instructor Dr. Amjad Muhammad Rida presented his research titled "Language Representation: Local Representation in the Novel 'A Swiss Summer' by Inaam Kachachi," addressing representations of language and identity in contemporary novelistic narrative.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the sessions witnessed scientific interventions and discussions that enriched its themes. Participants emphasized the importance of holding such seminars to support the Arabic language and enhance academic research.
