The College of Soil Al-Qurna at the University of Basra held a panel discussion on the study of the concentration of some heavy elements in soil and water for selected areas in northern Basra by researcher Naji Khudair Abbas
The current study included in the north of Basra to show the extent of the area's pollution and its vulnerability to heavy elements, and to measure some important environmental indicators of the soil.  The study period extended from September 2021 to June 2022, by determining the concentrations of some heavy elements in the soil and water in the two seasons (dry-wet), as six elements were estimated (zinc-copper-lead-nickel-cadmium-iron) in the alternating phase and phase  remaining soil.  The heavy metals were extracted using flame atomic absorption spectrometry.
  In addition, the study dealt with the determination of total organic carbon (%TOC) and soil texture.
