Basra University holds an educational symposium on drugs

The Follow-up Division at the College of Education/Qurna at the University of Basra held an educational symposium entitled Drugs and White Terrorism in the central hall of the college and in the presence of college students and professors.

The symposium dealt with two aspects. The first was the psychological aspect and touched on the psychological dimensions and their effects on the individual and society. It touched on the cultural and social dimension, which is the cause of several psychological damages, such as isolation caused by drugs and problems with society. These have causes, including unemployment, which provides a fertile environment for abuse.

As for the second aspect, which is the legal aspect, it deals with the controlled substances, the mechanism of their use, and their punishments. Among these punishments are trafficking, possession, and abuse, and the effects they cause on the user, the punishments of which reach the death penalty.

In conclusion, the symposium recommended encouraging reporting of drug users and traffickers and giving them a generous reward.

Not dispensing some types of medicines except with a prescription from a specialist doctor, prohibiting the use of some materials used for this purpose, and their use is limited to official departments (hospitals).

The symposium also recommended continuing to hold such seminars, especially for school and university students
