The College of Education in Al-Qurna district at the University of Basra organized a scientific workshop entitled “RNA Extraction from Cells,” with the participation of a group of postgraduate students from the Department of Life Sciences.
The workshop aimed to train students on the precise scientific methods for extracting the genetic material (RNA) from blood cells, and to enhance their theoretical and practical knowledge in molecular laboratory techniques.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Adnan Bader Ghalib, Dr. Anwar Nouri Ayoub, and Dr. Hind Adnan Nouri. It included a theoretical component that covered the components of blood and the functions of its cells, in addition to explaining the structure of the genetic material, its functions, and its locations within the cell, and clarifying the fundamental differences between DNA and RNA.
The workshop also included a detailed explanation of the steps for RNA extraction and its use in research experiments and applications, which contributes to developing the skills of postgraduate students in the applied fields of molecular sciences.
