The University of Basra – College of Education / Al-Qurna, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Center, organized a training course entitled:

“Biological and Chemical Safety in Research Laboratories,” which was directed at postgraduate students specializing in life sciences, and was held in the College's main hall.

The course included a number of scientific lectures that addressed important topics in the field of security and safety inside laboratories, including:

• Chemical Security in Biological Laboratories, delivered by Assist. Lec. Ali Shuheet Sa'doun / College of Education Al-Qurna.

• Laboratory Management and the Biosafety Manual, presented by Assist. Prof. Dr. Adel Qasim Jasim / College of Education Al-Qurna.

• Using Chemical Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), delivered by Assist. Prof. Dr. Bassam Ashour Rasheed / College of Education Al-Qurna.

The lectures clarified the importance of adhering to safety procedures in research laboratories, methods of handling hazardous materials, and preventing risks resulting from human errors.

At the conclusion of the course, the final test was administered, as it is one of the requirements for obtaining master's and doctoral degrees.

This course comes as part of the programs of the Hazardous Materials Handling Division at the Presidency of the University of Basra, and under the direct supervision of the Deanship of the College of Education / Al-Qurna.
