A scientific study at the University of Basra—conducted by Prof. Dr. Mushtaq Jari Moften (Department of Chemistry), Assist. Prof. Dr. Ammar Abdul-Jabbar Kazem (Head of the Physics Department), and Assist. Lect. Mohammed Shafiq Abid (Department of Chemistry) at the College of Education / Al-Qurna, University of Basra—has investigated a specialized anti-corrosion material.
The study, published in the Makara Journal of Science (indexed in Scopus and Clarivate Q3 with an H-index of 12), examined two new organic compounds (PTT) and (TTD) and tested their efficiency in protecting the copper-zinc (111) alloy from corrosion. This was accomplished using Density Functional Theory alongside advanced computational techniques, including molecular dynamics simulations and the Monte Carlo method, to study the electronic properties and adsorption capacity on the metal surface to form a protective insulating layer.
The results demonstrated that both compounds feature high efficiency, superior reactivity, and excellent chemical stability. They possess a high adsorption capacity and strong interaction power with the alloy surface, which confirms their success as strong and effective corrosion inhibitors suitable for wide-ranging industrial applications.
