A lecturer in the Department of Life Sciences at the College of Education of Qurna, University of Basrah, Mr. Kadhim Fadhel Kadhim, has published a scientific research paper in the journal Next Energy, published by Elsevier and indexed in both the Scopus and Clarivate databases, with an impact factor of 6.4.

The study aimed to evaluate the suitability of fungal-extracted biodiesel for use in internal combustion engines, based on quality characteristics and international standards.

The study included twelve oil-producing fungal isolates. The results demonstrated that most of the biodiesel samples complied with international standards in terms of cetane number, viscosity, and density, in addition to possessing a high calorific value, which enhances its potential as an alternative and sustainable fuel.
