Scientific Participation in the Al-Ghadir International Conference

Professor Dr. Mourtadha Abdul-Nabi Ali participated in the proceedings of the Fifth Annual Al-Ghadir International Scientific Conference for Intellectual Creativity. The event was held in the holy city of Najaf on Wednesday, June 11, 2026, and was organized by the Imam Amir al-Mu'minin (peace be upon him) Center for Specialized Studies and Research.

Dr. Mourtadha’s participation featured a scientific research paper titled: “Reference in the Ghadir Sermon and its Impact on Directing Meaning: A Pragmatic Approach.” The study explored the pragmatic role of reference (endophora) within the text of the Ghadir sermon, examining it as an effective tool for constructing and directing meaning.

The significance of this research lies in its endeavor to highlight the pragmatic function of reference in a heritage text of high semantic value, utilizing a descriptive-analytical approach to study the phenomenon. The study concluded that reference in the Ghadir sermon is not merely a means of textual cohesion; rather, it functions as a pragmatic mechanism that performs a directive role, contributing to the enhancement of rhetorical impact and the fulfillment of the text's intended purposes.
