University of Basra Holds Sixth International Conference on the Arabic Language

The Department of Arabic Language at the College of Education in Al Qurnah held its Sixth International Conference from November 26–27, 2025.

The conference was held under the patronage of the President of the University of Basra, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Kadhim, and the supervision of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Ali Dharab Shaaban, in cooperation with the Russian company Lukoil, under the slogan: "Transformations of Reading in Language and Literature in the Age of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence."

Key Highlights of the Conference:

• Opening Session: The opening speeches emphasized the importance of the Arabic language and the challenges it faces in the digital age, as well as its role in transmitting heritage and knowledge. It was highlighted that the conference serves as a platform for scientific communication between Iraqi and international universities, and a space to discuss the impact of technology on the fields of language and literature.

• Participation: Researchers from several Arab countries, including Algeria, Jordan, Syria, the UAE, and Iran, participated in the conference, reflecting the development of scientific activity at the College and the University.

• Research Topics: The conference featured diverse research sessions that addressed topics related to Artificial Intelligence, Computational Linguistics, and Digital Reading, in addition to research in modern literary studies, critical thought, and linguistics and its digital applications, which fostered knowledge exchange and academic cooperation.

• Conclusion: The conference concluded with a statement comprising the most prominent recommendations presented by the researchers, followed by the distribution of certificates and commemorative shields to the participants.
