The College of Education – Al-Qurnah at the University of Basra organized an educational lecture titled "The Psychological and Legal Effects of Drugs."

The lecture aimed to raise students' awareness of the dangers of drug abuse and its psychological effects, in addition to introducing the legal aspects and penalties imposed by Iraqi law on users and traffickers. This contributes to limiting the spread of this phenomenon and enhancing community awareness.

The lecture, presented by faculty members Marwa Falih Farhoud and Sarah Sabah Abdel Ali, addressed the negative psychological effects of drugs, such as the disorders they cause, including anxiety, depression, and impaired cognition. It also covered the legal framework for the crimes of drug use and trafficking and the penalties stipulated by the law, emphasizing the importance of continuous awareness to curb this scourge.
