
The Dean of the College of Education/Qurna at the University of Basra participated in the work of the Third National Academic Qur’anic Forum for university professors, which was held by the General Secretariat of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine - Office of the Secretary General, within the program of the Qur’anic Project in Iraqi universities and institutes, for the period from 20 to 21 September 2025 in the Holy Governorate of Karbala.
The forum included several main topics, the most notable of which are:
• Emphasizing the importance of spreading Quranic culture in the university community through Quranic courses, seminars and forums.
• Reviewing Qur’anic activities in universities over the past years, including specialized courses, seminars, forums, competitions, Ramadan conclusions, and Qur’anic camps.
• Prospective studies in the sciences of the Holy Qur’an and the role of universities in leading cognitive change in the field of Qur’anic studies.
• Supporting university professors specialized in the Holy Qur’an scientifically, educationally and technically.
• Approving the holding of the forum annually in conjunction with the beginning of the academic year to evaluate previous activities and draw up meaningful future plans.
The opening ceremony, which was held on the morning of Saturday, September 20, 2025, also witnessed a blessed Qur’anic recitation, followed by a speech by the General Secretariat of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine, and a speech by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in addition to a meeting with His Eminence the legal guardian of the Holy Imam Imam Hussein Shrine (may his glory last), after which the sessions to discuss the forum’s themes began and were completed the next day.
This participation comes within the framework of the University of Basra’s keenness to enhance its academic and scientific presence in various national events, and to support programs aimed at spreading Qur’anic culture in the university community.
