The College of Education / Qurna District witnessed a joyful celebration on the occasion of the sixty-first anniversary of the founding of the University of Basra, in the presence of the President of the University, Professor Dr. Muhannad Jawad Al-Asadi, accompanied by a number of department heads at the university. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the College of Administration and Economics / Qurna, where they were received by the Dean of the College, members of the teaching staff, and a group of students.

The celebration activities were launched in an atmosphere of pride and pride in the ancient history of the university, where the President of the University delivered a speech on this occasion, in which he emphasized the pioneering role of the University of Basra in serving the community and graduating scientific competencies that contributed to building Iraq, and a speech by the Dean of the College of Education/Qurna.

The celebration included the opening of a number of exhibitions, including a book exhibition that included various academic and literary publications, in addition to a drawing exhibition in which distinguished artistic works produced by college students were displayed, in addition to scientific exhibitions that highlighted students’ projects and research in various disciplines.

The events also witnessed distinguished scientific and experimental presentations, as the Life Sciences Department presented a presentation of its scientific productions and research experiments, while the Chemistry Department organized a group of interactive chemical experiments that attracted the interest of the audience. The Arabic Language Department presented a book exhibition, and the English Language Department included a play and an exhibition of drawing and calligraphy.

The ceremony witnessed the presence of a number of official figures, including the mayor of Qurna district, the mayor of the city district, the director of Izz al-Din Salim district, as well as the director of Qurna municipality, and representatives of al-Sadiq district and al-Deir district, in addition to the presence of a delegation from Lukoil Company, which gave the celebration an official character and prominent institutional support.

The ceremony received great interaction from the attendees, as they praised the organization and rich content of the events, expressing their pride in belonging to a university with such a history full of achievements.
