A teacher at the College of Education / Qurna, a member of the doctoral discussion at Dhi Qar University

The teaching staff at the Qurna College of Education at the University of Basra, Head of the Department of Life Sciences, Assistant Professor Dr. Adnan Badr Ghaleb Al-Hawash, participated as a member of the committee to discuss his doctoral thesis in the Department of Life Sciences/ College of Education for Pure Sciences at Dhi Qar University on Thursday 5/16/2024.
About the tagged thesis:
Studying the role of probiotics as an alternative antibacterial and anti-biofilm treatment against common pathogens
The researcher (Hasnain Qasim Mazal)’s thesis aimed to:
1. Isolate different types of lactic acid bacteria and examine their probiotic properties. 2. Those types using the 16S Rdna gene. 3. Do the whole genome sequencing to search for possible therapeutic treatments to reach the end. 4. Registering breeds in the bank. 5. Study the differences between local breeds and reference varieties.
And I concluded
In light of the results obtained, the following conclusions can be reached: 1. The strain obtained from humans showed the most favorable probiotic properties among the strains tested. 2. When a probiotic strain has different genes responsible for producing different bacteriocins, its inhibitory capacity increases. 3. Probiotics can be a valuable addition to antibiotics. 4. Whole bacterial genome sequencing provides an invaluable opportunity to monitor resistance and virulence. Additionally, it identifies bacteria to the strain level and helps determine their probiotic properties.
