The College of Education/Qurnah at the University of Basra held a seminar on the effect of oxidative stress of crude oil and treatment with melatonin and glutathione on the growth of the fenugreek plant and the active compounds it contains.
The study aimed to know the effect of soils contaminated with petroleum hydrocarbons on the growth of the fenugreek plant, its active compounds, and its ability to treat soils contaminated with crude oil.
The study recommended the use of local, endemic plants to treat soils contaminated with crude oil, as they are cheap, easy, and highly efficient in removing petroleum hydrocarbons.
